Programming Instructions:
Note: This is the same for many GM vehicles.
Sit in the driver’s seat. Insert the key into the ignition but don’t turn it. Push and hold the “Lock” button on the door. Continue to hold it. Turn the key to on, off, and then back to on, rapidly. Release the “Lock” button. The doors will sound. The remote is ready to be programmed. Push and hold “Unlock” and “Lock” on the remote for 20 seconds. The remote is programmed to the vehicle.

Doesn’t work something else is missing or the instructions are wrong. I have attempted this plenty of times.

my key fob was stolen. and I believe the thief still has it. My bwry nice stereo has been stolen once. Along with several thousand dollars worth of destruction to my interior .
I would like to know if I can reprogram the actual alrm to a different code so the old fob will not work and I can get another one to use.
I am reluctant to install another stereo system until I can be sure that he cant get back in with the old remote

Does not work. Nor does the variation using unlock button, nor on off on off, nor remote button. Would really like to be able to program my remote. Any other suggestions?
