Programming Instructions:
Note: This is the same for many GM vehicles.
Sit in the driver’s seat. Insert the key into the ignition but don’t turn it. Push and hold the “Lock” button on the door. Continue to hold it. Turn the key to on, off, and then back to on, rapidly. Release the “Lock” button. The doors will sound. The remote is ready to be programmed. Push and hold “Unlock” and “Lock” on the remote for 20 seconds. The remote is programmed to the vehicle.

This was the best website I ever used. I searched multiple sites for this information. Very easy to understand and it worked great! Thanks, Jerry

this doesn’t at all. If I turn the key on and off twice the lock locks and I release the unlock button it unlocks and try holding down the two buttons on the remote nothing happens but with your directions it never gives any indication that it has gone into programming mode. Any ideas

Hi Mike,
Not sure, this one has worked before for others. When the door locks trigger after you have turned ignition on and off, that is the indication that you are in programming mode.
After that point, if you hold the two buttons down (it takes a good 20 seconds) and you should be good. I am not clear if the car or remote is supposed to indicate that the programming has been completed or not, but try holding the buttons longer?
The other common thing I have heard is that the batteries in the remote are not fully charged.
I would first try it again exactly as outlined though first as these instructions are standard for many vehicles in the lineup.
Sorry I can’t help more, good luck!

Its actually opposite.
Put the key in the ignition, with ALL doors closed, Hold the UNLOCK button and whilst doing that, cycle the ignition to ON, OFF, ON, OFF, the locks will lock and unlock and the horn will sound. Hold the UNLOCK and LOCK button on the fob for 20 seconds, then after that, the vehicle will lock and unlock and the horn will sound to confirm the new fob.
Try that. 🙂

Holding the open lock worked for me as well. I have one small problem, I purchased two key FOB’s and If I program one the other looses it’s programming! I’m assuming one needs to be out of range from my truck to be able to program without losing the other one’s program?

Do you have any instructions for a 2004 Chevy trailblazer remote start how to program it. Have a replacement remote can’t get programmed to work with my car.
