Programming Instructions:
Note: This is the same for many Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles.
Grab your working remote. Insert the ignition key and turn it to ON. Push and hold UNLOCK on the working remote for 6 seconds. Push and hold PANIC for one second while continuing to hold UNLOCK. Release both buttons at the same time.
Push any button on the remote to program it. Then push any button on the remote that was already programmed. It has to be reprogrammed. The remote is now programmed to the vehicle. Turn the key to OFF.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie and it only came with one key/remote when I bought it last spring. I ordered a remote on ebay and took it to a locksmith to have it programmed. The locksmith told me that it could not be programmed because it had already been used for another vehicle and the transponder chip would not work with my truck. I thought I would just get a transponder key for the ignition and get the remote programmed just to unlock the doors. Now the locksmith is telling me that he cannot even program the remote to unlock the doors as the computer to program the remote has to associate the transponder chip first. Is this true or can I still program the remote to open the doors? If I can, will the process detailed above do it?
Thanks for your help,
Kelly
