Programming Instructions:
Find the car’s data programming port.Locate the Data Port under drivers side dashboard usually located to the right of steering column.
It’s a white connector with 16 holes. Put the key in the ignition. Leave it in the “Off” position. Put the jumper wire pin into data port slot four. Put the other end of the pin into data port one.
The door locks will cycle – you are now in programming mode [you may have to press the hazard switch 6 times to make the door locks cycle, there are mixed reports on whether you need to do that or not].
Take the remote you want to program and WITHIN 10 seconds, press the LOCK button three times – the door locks should cycle on and off again.
You can repeat this for each remote you want to program up to a total of four remotes as long as you do it within one minute.
When you are done, simply remove the jumper wire from the data port and remove the keys from the ignition. Thats it!

where in the trunk is the data port located and is it possible if you can put up a picture of it.

Hi Sam, sorry about that, the data port is actually located under the dash near the steering column – usually on the right hand side. I updated the instructions appropriately. Let me know how it goes!

Hi I’m not sure what is a “jumper wire pin” and also what do you mean by “hazard switch”. I’m confused on these, otherwise the instructions look very clear. thanks
The Remote Guy says
Hi Ricardo, glad you found us and the instructions make sense! a ‘jumper wire pin’ is simply any piece of wire that you can use to connect two of the holes together. I paper clip might even work, but I dont’ recommend it. Get a piece of light gauge wire (solid core) about 6 inches long, strip both ends and voila, you have a ‘jumper wire’ 🙂
the ‘hazard switch’ is the switch for your hazard lights (the ‘blinkers’). I am not sure if you will need to flip this or not. There are conflicting reports on whether or not it is required.
Post back if it works or not!
Cheers!

I did all the instructions put a jumper wire in ports 1 and 4 press the hazard switch 6 times and the doors did lock and unlock but then I pressed the remote lock button 3 times in 10 seconds and it did not work. I have tried it a bunch of times and it still doesnt work even put in a new battery in the remote with no success please someone help I dont want to pay to program this when I am halfway there mayne I am doing something wrong. I have an 03older
The Remote Guy says
Hi Alex, interesting problem. What the symptoms are telling me is that the car is NOT recognizing the remote. Where did you get the remote? Is it a ‘real’ Lancer remote or is it for a different model? Is it factory or is it third party?
To trouble shoot a little, do you have ANY working remotes? If you do, try reprogramming one following the instructions. If a working remote won’t reprogram then something really strange is going on and I will try to do some research further. But if you can reprogram a working remote, then there is a problem with the ‘new one’.
I will also do a quick search and see if anyone else is having this problem and report back. Good luck!
Also, your comment looks like it is cut off at the end what were you trying to say with “I have an 03older”?
