Learn to program the remote to your 1997 Pontiac Sunfire without any help from the dealer.
Programming Instructions: Note: This is the same for many GM vehicles.
Open the trunk. Look in the left corner of the trunk. Find the programming connector. Grab your jumper wire. Insert each end of the wire into one of the terminal’s slots. The door locks now cycle. Push and hold “Lock” on the remote for about 18 seconds. The locks will cycle again, which lets you know the remote is synchronized to the vehicle.

How can I tell if my 1997 Pontiac Sunfire originally had remote locks. VIN is 1G2JB1246V7538788. Also I have remotes for a 2005 Chevrolet and I would like to program one of them to work on this pontiac if possible. GM/Lear number on back of remote is 10443537. Thanks for any help you can give me.
