Programming Instructions:
You can’t program this particular make/model/year yourself – you will have to take the car to a Ford/Mercury Dealer or an automotive locksmith in order to have it programmed. I recommend trying an automotive locksmith first as they can be faster and less expensive.
NOTE: you will need to take the CAR and ALL THE REMOTES with you as the locksmith will have to hook up a computer right to your car and then reprogram all the remotes at once.

Just tried this on my Mom’s ’97 Merc Gran Marquis… worked like a charm!! I found another set of instructions that involved the keypad on the drivers door… but that pad is not functioning. But yours worked great.
Thank YOU guys for the info & the video showing “how to get it done quickly”.
You guys rock!

THIS IS WRONG! this procedure does NOT work on the 98 Grand Marquis. It works on all other model years, but the 98 requires a special programmer at your local dealership. Bummer.

Note the previous comment mentions a 97 MGM.
