Programming Instructions:
Sit in the Miata MX-5’s driver seat and open the door. Push LOCK and then push UNLOCK on the door panel switch. Put the Miata MX-5’s key inside the ignition cylinder. Turn it to ON then OFF three times. Perform this within 10 seconds. Time is of the essence. If done too slowly, it will not work. Close and then open the door three times, stopping when it is open for the last time. The car’s doors will lock. Push UNLOCK on the the key fob twice. The horn will chirp. The remote is programmed to the Mazda Miata.

Hi,
I have a an MX-5 automatic build in 2001. My key fob ran out of battery and I tried to open the car causing the alarm to go off.
After changing the fob battery(A23 battery) I can not reprogram the system according to your intructions. Whatever I do sets the car alarm to go off.
My key fob looks rather different from the one in the video/mazda manual.
Is there a chance to reset the alarm?
Just putting the regular key in the ignition lock or any other car lock does not stop the alarm.
Any ideas?
