Learn to program the remote to your 2003 Toyota RAV4 without any help from the dealer.
Programming Instructions: Note: This is the same for many Toyota vehicles.
Remove the key from the ignition. Lock all of the doors, but open the driver’s side door. Leave it unlocked. Insert the key into the ignition twice within five seconds. Don’t turn it. Close then open the door twice. Insert the key again then remove it from the ignition.
Close then open the driver’s side door. Close then open the driver’s side door again. Insert the key. Leave it in the ignition. Close the door. Turn the key to “On,” without starting the engine, and then turn it off. Remove the key. You’ll hear the door locks sound.
Push and hold “Lock” and “Unlock” buttons on the remote for two seconds, and then release the buttons. Then push and hold “Lock” for three seconds. The remote is now programmed.

I cannot get these instructions to work for the life of me. I have a 2005 Rav4 Chili edition (if that makes any difference). Any other suggestions?

Hello Mike. I just verified the instructions. The process is the same for the 2003/2005 models. Check the remote’s battery and try again. Pay close attention to the amount of time it takes. The process must be done quickly.

Please, I want to find out if the programming can still be done if the power lock on one of the doors (passenger door in front) is not working (i.e. not controlled by the central lock).
Thank you.

Hi Sam, I don’t know really, but I wouldn’t think it should matter as these instructions don’t involve using the door power lock to get the car in program mode. Give it a whirl and see what happens
