Programming Instructions: [smartads]

Turn the Lesabre’s key to OFF. Leave it in the ignition. Open the driver’s door. Find the OBD data port on the left side of the dash, beneath the steering wheel. Insert a jumper pin into pins 8 and 4. The doors will lock and unlock. Close the driver’s door. Turn the ignition key to ON. Wait a few seconds, and then push and hold LOCK and UNLOCK on the key fob you are programming. Wait for the doors to unlock and lock. This takes about a minute. The remote is programmed.

When do I remove the JUMPER? Will I have to reprogram the remote that I have and is working now?

      Hello John,

Remove the jumper wire at the end of the procedure. I don’t believe you’ll have to reprogram the old remote. If it doesn’t work afterward, repeat the procedure and push and hold the “Lock” and “Unlock” buttons on it after programming the other one and before removing the jumper.

Not sure I understand Teddy – what you need to do is GET a piece of wire and use it as a jumper to jump the pins in the ODB port. That should set the car in program mode and allow you to program the keys…..can you provide more detail about the problem you are having?

He probably means there is not contact pin in terminal 8. I’m having the same problem with a 2002 LeSabre Custom.

    followed instructions.
I inserted the jumper pin into pins 8 and 4. The doors locked and unlocked. I Closed the driver’s door. Turned the ignition key to ON. I Waited a few seconds, and I pushed and held the LOCK and UNLOCK on the key fob, but nothing happened.
The Fob has power and battery (I went to autozone and they checked it).
    What do I do next?
