Programming Instructions:
Note: This is the same for many GM vehicles.
Sit in the driver’s seat. Insert the key into the ignition but don’t turn it. Push and hold the “Lock” button on the door. Continue to hold it. Turn the key to on, off, and then back to on, rapidly. Release the “Lock” button. The doors will sound. The remote is ready to be programmed. Push and hold “Unlock” and “Lock” on the remote for 20 seconds. The remote is programmed to the vehicle.

I have a 2007 colbalt with keyless remote GM/L 15252034. When I lookup this remote up on the internet they all say that I have to take the remote to a dealership to have it programmed. Is this true or will your instructions for how to program a remote be able to program this remote.
Thank you

Only one way to find out duh!!

Did you ever get it to work with your remote starter to?
Gary says
It didn’t work for me. I ended up paying the dealer to program them.

I tried this on my 2007 Colbalt SS and it does not work, however my door lock on the driver side was not working and it did correct that issue. My FOB has the remote start so this may be why it only partially worked. Thank you for sharing this procedure.

This worked for me! However, the doors did not sound after I released the lock button. All’s well that ends well : ).

Hi, I saw that you were successful in reprogramming your Cobalt’s remote. Congrats! I am thinking about ordering a new remote for my car, but want to know if it will even be possible to reprogram.
What kind of Cobalt do you drive? I suspect it’s not working for the others because they drive auto with the remote start function. Do you drive stick?
I’d greatly appreciate a response. Thank you!

Did not work with mine

I haven’t tried this yet, so I don’t know if it works or if you’ll have to reprogram your keys. but another blog says: 1) put an programmed key in the ignition. 2) pull the 10A radio fuse. 3) turn the key to the “ON” position, to verify that the radio was disabled. turn the key to “OFF” and remove the key. 4) replace the fuse. 5) Hold down, at the same time, the “lock” and “unlock” button on the new key fob until the doors locking mechanism engages. This resets the security setting on the car. You’ll have to go through the reset process (holding in the information and set key at the same time then following the prompts.)

I drive a Cobalt SS with automatic transmission and, yes, I do have the remote start function. The above instructions did work for me.
