Programming Instructions:
Note: This is the same for many GM vehicles.
Sit in the driver’s seat. Insert the key into the ignition but don’t turn it. Push and hold the “Lock” button on the door. Continue to hold it. Turn the key to on, off, and then back to on, rapidly. Release the “Lock” button. The doors will sound. The remote is ready to be programmed. Push and hold “Unlock” and “Lock” on the remote for 20 seconds. The remote is programmed to the vehicle.

Bogus info. Colorado’s must be programmed via computer, which are typically only at dealers, as the diagnostic computers are so expensive.

I tried this on my 2006 Colorado and I can confirm Ron’s comment. This does not work on these trucks. And yes, I have checked the truck is equipped with the remote keyless entry option, batteries are good, etc. It won’t even enter ‘programming mode’. After I release the ‘Lock’ button, nothing happens. It doesn’t automatically lock/unlock or ‘sound’ or anything. And pushing and holding the lock/unlock buttons on the remote doesn’t do anything. Most other sites say these trucks can only be programmed via a programmer that can access the BCM.

Does not work on my 2004 colorado either. Hope someone finds a way to program them without a dealer.
