Programming Instructions:
You can’t program the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu yourself – you will have to take the car to an Chevrolet Dealer or an automotive locksmith in order to have it programmed. I recommend trying an automotive locksmith first as they can be faster and less expensive.
NOTE: you will need to take the CAR and ALL THE REMOTES with you as the locksmith will have to hook up a computer right to your car and then reprogram all the remotes at once.
I have tried this but my display never read “Press to Relearn Keys”!! Am I doing something wrong? How long am I suppose to hold the information key?
Was I suppose to actually turn on the ignition? or just turn it towards on?
This is bullshit instructions tried it to and never got the relearn message piece of shIt
Hi Cristian, sorry about that, for some vehicle make/models, we repeat the instructions because many car manufacturers often don’t change the pattern. In some cases, particularly with the later model cars, they have different rules for different models.
In your case, I did some checking after your note and unfortunately, it turns out that with your make/model/year, you can’t program the remotes yourself and you will have to take your vehicle to an auto locksmith or a dealer to have it programmed. Try the auto locksmith, it may be faster and less expensive.
Again, sorry for the confusion – good luck.
PS – I updated the instructions accordingly.
